With excitement high for the Bears in 2025, what’s another season you really enjoyed?

I’m excited. You’re excited. We’re all excited. The 2025 Chicago Bears season may not end with an appearance in Super Bowl 60, but with year two of Caleb Williams and year one of Ben Johnson, there’s a lot of positivity around the fan base.

Obviously, we all love a season that ends with the Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl, especially if they hoist the Lombardi Trophy after the game, but that doesn’t happen often. That brings us to the question of the day.

Question of the Day: What is your favorite Chicago Bears season that didn’t end in a Super Bowl appearance?

What season stands out to you that you just had a lot of fun watching Chicago Bears football? There’s plenty to pick from. How about the Dick Jauron 2001 season? If you’re old enough, how about any of those Chicago Bears seasons in 1986, 1987, or 1988? Perhaps there was a season with a little less success that you enjoyed. What’s your favorite Bears season where they weren’t in the Super Bowl?

My answer: For me, it was 2018. The double doink has become painful because of how quickly the Bears derailed after that season, but after that season, I thought the Bears were all the way back.

But it started back in January. I was excited for Matt Nagy. Then Ryan Pace goes out and lands Allen Robinson, among others. And then, right before the season, they make the splash for Khalil Mack. It was before week one, and I was flying high on this team.

Even in week one against the Green Bay Packers, the Bears had that brutal second half, but my memory has largely blocked that out. I remember the first half that Khalil Mack had. The show he put on. It was electric.

After that game, the Bears got cooking. Mitch Trubisky looked like he was going to be something. Matt Nagy looked like the right hire. And the Bears defense was something special. Those touchdown celebrations. Santa’s Sleigh. That team was just pure fun.

The double doink hurt. But for me, I thought 2018 was only the beginning, and the Bears were only going to get better.

That’s why 2019 was one of the worst seasons I can remember as a Bears fan. But in the moment, 2018 was tough to beat.

What do you say, Bears fans? Was 2018 your favorite season, or do you have a different one? Sound off in the comments!
