The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in elite company over the past decade and a half.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have remained one of the most respected franchises in the NFL for some time, but their run over the last decade and a half is second to none.

According to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, the Steelers are one of just two teams (Green Bay Packers) that have not had a single last place finish in their division since 2010.

Much of the Steelers’ success can be contributed to former head coach Mike Tomlin, who never had a losing season during his 19 years in Pittsburgh.

Unfortunately, the Steelers have also not made it make to the Super Bowl since the 2010 season, which is why many people were happy to see a change at head coach this offseason.

Mike McCarthy is the new man in charge, and while he certainly has some big shoes to fill, he has quite an impressive resume, too, with a 174-112-2 career record and .608 winning percentage.

Only time will tell if McCarthy can help Pittsburgh finally reach its championship aspirations, but he seems fit for the job to keep the Steelers’ impressive divisional streak alive.

In fact, some even believe McCarthy could be a dark horse candidate to win this year’s NFL Coach of the Year.

“This underappreciated, Super Bowl-winning head coach has a chance to cement his legacy with a strong run in Pittsburgh,” Brooks wrote. “McCarthy takes over a longtime winner that had plateaued under Mike Tomlin, but the roster still features enough veteran playmakers to make a jump from good to great under new direction. If the veteran coach can get Aaron Rodgers to play like a top-half quarterback in a system that minimizes his deficiencies as a 42-year-old — while simultaneously prodding defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to help the vaunted defense regain its swagger and suffocating style — the Steelers will make plenty of noise as contenders. Inherently, McCarthy could win his first Coach of the Year award.”
