The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed nine of their 10 draft picks. The lone draft pick that has not signed yet is third-round pick Drew Allar.

Allar participated in the Steelers’ entire offseason program, so it’s not something to worry about. The two sides will eventually come to an agreement before training camp starts in late July. In 2023, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. did not officially sign his rookie deal until July 25, which was a day before players were required to report for training camp.

Allar, who stands at 6-foot-5, 228 pounds, was an All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2024, leading Penn State to the College Football Playoff semifinals while passing for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Allar’s senior season was cut short due to a broken left ankle, but in six games he threw for 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers showed Allar the ropes during spring practices. The third-round pick will have a front row seat to the last year of Rodgers’ career.

“I’ve definitely learned a ton,” Allar told Joe Smeltzer of Steelers Now at minicamp. “Like Aaron’s done a great job of just being very open with me, answering all my questions. Pulling me aside during practices, if he sees something, and me asking him a lot of questions. He’s done a great amount of help already for me. So I’m really excited to keep learning from him. And honestly, just keep watching him play.”

Allar provided more information on what he’s learned from Rodgers last week at OTAs

“With me, specifically, he’s pulled me aside during practice to talk through some drill work or things to focus on through different drills. In the film room, [he’s] just asking me questions of what I was seeing, what I was looking at and why. [He’s] giving me a lot of good knowledge,” Allar said. “I’m really excited to keep learning from him. Obviously he’s one of the best to ever do it in this game. So the opportunity I have is one I’m not going to take for granted.”
