Our Dallas Cowboys prediction series continues. Today, we’ll look at arguably the most important position on offense beyond quarterback – the offensive line.
The offensive line is the backbone of the offense. A unit that was explosive and capable for the Cowboys in 2025 is looking to build on that success with continuity and by continuing to develop the young talent. Tyler Booker looks like he’ll be elite soon, Tyler Smith already is, and Cooper Beebe is solid now, with future potential.
It’s the tackles that are the issue. Terence Steele has his issues and one day may be replaced, but it is Tyler Guyton providing the most worry. The Cowboys invested a first-round pick on the left tackle.
Guyton’s numbers were not good in 2025. He was ranked No. 71 out of 89 graded tackles last year overall by Pro Football Focus, and ranked 81st and 46th, between pass and run blocking, respectively. He also missed seven games due to injuries, so his reliability has also come into question.
Guyton’s inconsistency could ultimately lead to more questions. Do the Cowboys have to play musical chairs with the left side of the line if he continues to struggle by moving Tyler Smith to tackle? Do they make the change to Nate Thomas or even Drew Shelton, possibly closing the door on Guyton’s future with the Cowboys?
For Guyton, however, it is his athleticism that stands out, and ultimately what will help him get back on track at camp.
Now that Brian Schottenheimer has declared that position up for grabs between Guyton and Nate Thomas, Guyton will start to put it all together in camp and end the competition talk. Thomas, who also had his fair share of struggles last year, will be the motivational tool Guyton will use to his advantage. He will build on the strengths he has as a run blocker by improving his pass blocking, and the left tackle position will not only be his, but the left side of the offensive line will be secure.
