Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s Omar Khan’s first press conference of the offseason.
Khan broke down the Steelers quarterback situation, saying the team would prefer to re-sign either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson and wants the deal done before the start of the free agency. In the meantime, he’s keeping “all options on the table” in terms of potential trades or free agents, but Khan made it clear that his priority is to find a deal with one of the two returnees.
Khan also said that the players are OK with the team’s timeline and that he believes that both would like to return to the Steelers in 2025.
Elsewhere, Khan admitted that the team’s wide receiver position wasn’t good enough in 2025 and hopes to make that a priority in free agency, addressed the contract situations of Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and George Pickens, and talked about the future of the team’s offensive line. Alan breaks it down.
