The Jets may have found themselves a left tackle
The New York Jets have provided few positive memories for their fans in 2024. Now sitting at 3-9, the playoffs race is over, and the focus moves to what tomorrow will bring.
One such ray of optimism can be found in the recent play of first round pick Olu Fashanu, who has moved back to left tackle following Tyron Smith’s injury. On Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, Fashanu reminded us why the Jets took him, as he was superb in pass protection.
Needless to say, that’s a great day.
Additionally, this isn’t really a one-off event, as Fashanu has generally been great in pass protection while playing left tackle.
Ideally, this level of performance holds for the rookie, as it would likely signal that the Jets did indeed draft their left tackle of the future in April. Of note, Fashanu will have the rest of the season to build on this resume as Tyron Smith was recently placed on the injured reserve.
