PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers took the field for OTA practice No. 2 at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Wednesday, and the rain quickly followed them. What started as a light rain turned into a downpour by the end of the practice session, but the Steelers players weren’t surprised that head coach Mike Tomlin had them out there in the conditions.
“Coach T likes to say he sees around corners like this,” outside linebacker Nick Herbig said. “There’s going to be a day, there’s going to be a game where it’s raining, maybe snowing, whatever it is, and we’re going to be prepared for it. Rain, sleet or snow, we’re out here, for sure.”
The Steelers started proceedings on Wednesday with a rare defensive ball security drill, which had spirits high. The offense, meanwhile, struggled at times with the conditions.
