To the surprise of no one, during his first practice since returning to the New York Giants, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made a one-handed catch.

The NFL posted pictures of Beckham during his first practice back with the Giants, including one of him making a signature one-handed catch. Fans flooded the comments section with a wide range of responses.

Some are excited, to say the least. One fan commented, “The Giants are back,” along with an edit of Beckham’s highlights from his first stint with the team. Another said, “OBJ’s true home, it’s like he was never gone.”

However, some aren’t as optimistic. One posted his stats from his last five seasons in the NFL, during which he has logged 1,157 yards and eight touchdowns. Most of that production, though, came in 2021 and 2023. He missed all of 2022 and only caught nine passes for 55 yards in 2024. The fan wrote, “No one is scared. NFL is just milking his name for views.”

A X, formerly Twitter, user called out his use of “sticky gloves.” They asked him to take them off and then make those catches, doubling down, “You’re washed up [and] injury prone.”

Lastly, an X user claimed that he “last sniffed relevance in 2019.” They asked fans to “relax” before getting excited about his contributions to the team.

Odell Beckham Jr.’s Giants reunion

OBJ previously played for the Giants from 2014 to 2018. He was drafted with the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft out of LSU.

He exploded onto the scene in his rookie year, making an iconic one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys. Beckham caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. He would have over 1,000 yards in three of his next four seasons before being traded to the Cleveland Browns.

Beckham has since played for the Los Angeles Rams (winning Super Bowl 56 with them), the Baltimore Ravens, and the Miami Dolphins. After spending 2025 as a free agent, the Giants signed him after a workout. Fans will have to wait and see if he makes the roster.
