In 2021, Odell Beckham Jr. made a very risky decision when finalizing the terms of his contract with the Los Angeles Rams.
He came under intense scrutiny when he opted to get his $750,000 base salary in Bitcoin. It was a questionable move at the time, and it only got worse: At one point in 2022, Bitcoin had dropped to $16,000.
He did not panic, and it worked out for him.
Bitcoin rose past $120,000 for the first time on record, taking the year-to-date gain to 28%. BTC is currently trading above $121,000 as of midday Hong Kong time, according to CoinDesk market data.
According to John Glover, CEO of Ledn, BTC’s rally has legs, and its prices could rise to $136,000 by the end of the year.
“We have finally broken to new highs, which confirms that the dip to $96k in late June satisfied the wave (ii) pullback (yellow line) within the larger Wave 5 (orange line),” Glover said in an email.
Odell Beckham Jr. certainly took notice of it.
He would take to social media and state, “Sooooo bitcoin is at an ALL TIME high today…safe to say we still happy with our decision 😏✌️✌️🚀.’
“Lets see what crypto week talkin about 👀,” the free agent wideout stated.

It’s been a while since Odell Beckham Jr. has had his name buzzing in the league.
The former All-Pro wide receiver has been without an NFL team since his December release from the Miami Dolphins.
Beckham acknowledged a fan’s plea to “go back to the Giants” during a charity event earlier this year. Then, he shared pictures of himself and his son outside MetLife Stadium, prompting current players like Malik Nabers to endorse a potential comeback.
The 32-year-old hasn’t played a full season in six years, bouncing between four teams during that time, and he managed just nine catches before his mutual departure from Miami in 2024.
Beckham entered the NFL when the Giants made him the 12th overall pick of the 2014 Draft.
Only time will tell if any team will take on the veteran wideout.
