It’ll come down to both the trenches and cornerback. We look at the pool of players the 49ers will have to work with at pick No. 11
The San Francisco 49ers have distinct needs on the roster as we’re a week away from the NFL Draft. You can narrow it down to the offensive or defensive line, with cornerback coming in at a close third. That’s how the odds are on:
DL/Edge +185
OL +185
CB +310
LB +850
Safety +1500
Looking at the odds of players projected to go in the first round, here are the players priced to go within the first 32 picks if we narrow it down to defensive and offensive line, as well as cornerback:
OL Will Campbell (priced to go in the top 5 at -250)
DT Mason Graham (priced to go in the top 5 at -160)
LB/Edge Jalon Walker (-700 to go top 10)
OT Armand Membou (-350 to go top 10)
OT Josh Simmons (-1100 to be a 1st round pick)
DT Derrick Harmon (-700 to be a 1st round pick)
DT Walter Nolen (-280)
DT Kennenth Grant (-250)
CB Maxwell Hairston (-140)
Edge James Pearce Jr. (-125)
The larger the number, the more likely it is to happen. For example, you’d need to bet $1100 to win $100 for Simmons to be a first-round pick. Conversely, $125 to win $100 for Pearce Jr. to be selected in the first round.
Kelvin Banks Jr., Mykel Williams, Jahdae Barron, and Will Johnson all have plus odds to be selected in the top 10, but not the first round, suggesting they’re a lock to go somewhere in the 10-30 range.
Fourteen prospects are in play for the Niners at pick No. 11. Of course, they could trade up if a player like Graham or Membu falls, or move down if there’s a positional run that benefits the Niners, like wide receiver or quarterback.
