Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen made his rounds at the 2025 NFL Owner’s Meeting. Here’s everything you need to know.
With the first three weeks of the 2025 NFL Free Agent period in the books, Jacksonville Jaguars fans were given extended access to head coach Liam Coen on Monday. Coen began the day with his normally scheduled media availability with the assembled media from Palm Beach, FL, where the annual three-day NFL Owners Meeting is being held. He would touch on everything Jaguars-related, from the roster makeup, the incoming free agent class, the upcoming NFL Draft, and more. General Manager James Gladstone previously gave his initial thoughts on the early free agent additions for this incoming class two weeks ago.

System familiarity should help early offensive install
Early within his media availability Coen brought up an interesting point in reference to the Jaguars having multiple offensive linemen who will kick off the offseason with familiarity with his offensive system. Both incoming starting Center Robert Hainsey, who spent 2024 under Coen with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and backup Center Luke Fortner, who was with Liam at the University of Kentucky have experience with his system language, scheme, and such. As Coen outlined,
“Hainsey’s been in the system, so now you have two O-linemen that have been in your system or some version of it with [OL] Luke Fortner and now Hainsey. That’ll help spread out to a lot of our players. They’ll be able to understand system a little bit quicker, and coaches it’s going to help in so many different ways.”
He later reiterated how the same system familiarity learning curve also applied to his coaching staff:
“It’s on the coaching staff, too. That’s the beautiful part. We’ve been able to get onboarded so much quicker just because, man, look at the offensive staff. They have almost all been in a version of this system. As much as being a head coach for the first time has been amazing, I haven’t been able to do as much football as I’m used to. So to hear the conversations that are happening in the building, to be able to go in there and hear the dialogue and the presentations, it’s pretty cool because I’m familiar with that flow and so many guys just getting protections onboarded.
