Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to know about today.
Abdul Carter, OLB. As a rookie, Carter might have netted just four sacks, but he led Big Blue with 72 QB pressures — seventh-most in the league, per NGS — and a 15.4 percent QB pressure rate. The edge rusher showed improvement down the stretch, logging 3.5 of his four sacks in the final five weeks. With a strong get-off and more seasoning, Carter should put up bigger numbers in 2026. The Giants upgraded the surroundings for new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, which should provide more opportunities for Carter to cause havoc on a consistent basis after ebbs and flows last season.
Giants DE Abdul Carter. Carter had an odd rookie season. He came in with a ton of hype as the third overall pick of last year’s draft, and had only four sacks. But the pressure stats were very good. He had the most quick pressures of any player in the NFL last season.
The best guess is Carter turns a lot of those pressures into sacks this season. There’s no better way to get off to a good start than having a strong preseason, which would be a good sight for new Giants head coach John Harbaugh. Everyone would be excited to see Carter have a big preseason heading into his second NFL season.
Matt Citak: What the 23-year-old does as an encore from his promising rookie campaign will be an important factor in determining how much success the team has this season. With a new coaching staff in tow, Dart is now learning his second NFL offense in as many seasons. The young signal-caller picked up last year’s system rather quickly, and the hope is that he is able to do the same this year.
Year 2 is always a big one for quarterbacks. Some players make the jump and take their game to the next level, which is what New England’s Drake Maye and Chicago’s Caleb Williams were able to do last year. Others suffer from the dreaded “sophomore slump” and see their game take a step back. Where Dart lands on this spectrum is the million-dollar question.
New York Giants: Over 7.5. Bet Confidence Level: Moderate. I’m extremely high on the 2026 Giants. Jaxson Dart registered 24 combined passing/rushing touchdowns to five interceptions as a first-round rookie in 2025 and appears to be on track to take the reins as the franchise quarterback.
