Big Blue View
New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh gave Big Blue View his time to contribute to a piece looking into what players and coaches who work with him think of the experience. If you haven’t read it yet, please do.
Now, a look at Monday’s Giants headlines.
Giants’ duo of Andrew Thomas, Jermaine Eluemunor not among top five.
Conor Orr and James Palmer explain why the New York Giants could have one of the NFL’s most fascinating training camps. The guys discuss the demanding culture John Harbaugh is bringing to New York, whether this young Giants roster is ready to embrace it, and how key players like Malik Nabers and Kayvon Thibodeaux fit into the new environment. They also break down why the opening week of training camp could reveal whether the Giants are ready to take the next step or headed for another disappointing season.
Dart’s occasionally reckless play-style led to four blue-tent medical visits for concussion protocol checks tests dating back to the preseason. Finding a way to reign in that recklessness while still utilizing his athleticism and playmaking ability is the goal. Dart is searching for balance.
The Giants won the John Harbaugh sweepstakes. Dart is fortunate to have the third-most winningest active head coach in the NFL overseeing his personal development. The Giants invested in the offensive line and pass-catching spots this offseason, adding assets like Francis Mauigoa and Isaiah Likely to ensure Dart has everything needed to take another step.
“This is my third year with coach Harbs,” Johnson said. “The number one thing we’re gonna do on defense, come hell or high water, is stop the run. That’s what we’re gonna teach, that’s what we’re gonna preach, that’s what we’re gonna get executed. It’s on the walls in meeting rooms, it’s in most of our team meetings, defensive meetings, it’s in my position meeting. That’s where it begins and ends.”
The New York Giants surrounded Malik Nabers with a hodgepodge of undersized, journeyman, so-so talents, including a bevy of veterans who may be past their primes.
But if Malachi Fields is the player the Giants think he is, their wide receiver corps actually looks really good.
