The New York Giants merry-go-round at placekicker will take another spin as the team has waived Younghoe Koo .

Koo, a veteran signed early in the year to the practice squad, badly missed on 51- and 51-yard field goal attempts in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders. In the game before that, Koo’s failure to attempt a kick after holder Jamie Gillan slightly bobbled the snap led to Gillan being injured and missing the game against the Commanders.

The Giants signed Koo, who had been cut after one game by the Atlanta Falcons, when Graham Gano suffered a groin injury. New York, though, chose to have inexperienced second-year kicker Jude McAtamney replace Gano for four games.

McAtamney was waived after missing three extra points in a two-week span, with Gano then returning to the lineup.

When Gano then suffered a season-ending neck injury, the Giants turned to Koo. In five games, the 31-year-old eight-year veteran made 4 of 6 field-goal attempts and 11 of 12 extra points.

The Giants also claimed outside linebacker Caleb Murphy on waivers, filling that roster spot.

Rookie placekicker Ben Sauls was added to the Giants’ practice squad in early November. That puts the left-footed former University of Pittsburgh kicker in line to make his NFL debut on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
