NY Giants coaching rumors: Denver Broncos DC Vance Joseph to interview

Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will reportedly get an interview for the New York Giants vacant head coaching job. Joseph joins interim head coach Mike Kafka and former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury as candidates expected to interview for the job.

If the Giants want Joseph, it appears they will have competition. Adam Schefter reported that Joseph will reportedly interview for openings with the Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, and Tennessee Titans, as well as the Giants.

Joseph, 53, was head coach of the Broncos in 2017 and 2018, compiling a, 11-21 record (.344 winning percentage).

Joseph has long been considered one of the best defensive coordinators in football. He was defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins in 2016, when Giants GM Joe Schoen was part of the front office. He was Kingsbury’s defensive coordinator in Arizona from 2019-2022, where Giants interim defensive coordinator was one of his assistant coaches. He has been defensive coordinator of the Broncos for the past two seasons as the Broncos have fielded one of the league’s best defenses.

This season, the Broncos were second in yards and third in points allowed.

Joseph’s connection to Schoen, his prior head-coaching experience, and the possibility he might be able to bring highly-regarded Broncos’ quarterbacks coach Davis Webb to New York to work with Jaxson Dart and the Giants’ offense, are among the reasons he is an intriguing candidate.

The Giants aren’t the only team that sees the appeal.
