Now THAT is one good day.
New Detroit Lions defensive end Ahmed Hassanein checked not one but two major milestones off his list on Saturday.
First, the Lions selected the edge rusher in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, leading to one of the most intense draft-day calls I’ve ever seen.
OK, weeping. Then to add to the happiness, Hassanein addressed his family and friends with more exciting news.
“I appreciate every one of you guys. I just want to take this opportunity and thank the love of my life. You changed my life. You seriously changed my life and you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I promise I’ll always protect you, always be at your side, help you fulfill your dress, like you helped me fulfill mine. I love you, and,” he said, then proceeded to get down on one knee.
OK, WEEPING. What a day. Isn’t it fun seeing people happy? Huge congrats to the lovely couple and welcome to the Lions family.

Ready to get hyped? Or even more hyped? The Lions posted 10 minutes of highlights from the newest boys in Honolulu blue.
While the city of Green Bay estimated around 250,000 fans would attend the NFL draft over three days, it turned out to be closer to 600,000. Not quite beating the Lions but, sigh, nothing to scoff at.
