Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes opened up about his personal life in an interview with Local 4. Plus, an ode to a great member of our Detroit Lions fandom.

Local Channel 4, WDIV, published a extensive interview with Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes this week. The interview, done by Rhonda Walker at the Lions training facility, spans over 45 minutes and tackles a ton of interesting topics.

Holmes tells his professional story of how he went from an Atlanta Hawks media intern to Lions general manager. We get to know a little about his family, and how they have acclimated to Michigan after spending most of their life in southeast America. Holmes shares his thoughts on Black History Month and talks about some of his professional idols. He also reacts to all the viral videos of himself celebrating after games and in the Lions’ draft room.

The entire interview is definitely worth your time if you’ve got a spare 45 minutes:

Isaac has also been battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 2006.

On Tuesday, he shared a health update, and it’s not a particularly good one:

I’ve never been close enough to genuinely call Isaac my friend. We’ve interacted plenty of times on Twitter, and I probably razzed him too many times for his Spartan fandom, but he was a part of my life. He was someone I counted on to make me smile with his “Tell me something good that happened to you” tweets, and I would sometimes spend nearly an hour reading the replies just to brighten my own day. He’s funny, passionate, and just someone people naturally gravitated towards.

I met him once or twice in person at Lions-related events, and I could tell he was truly a kind soul. But, honestly, I have always been a little ashamed of how I treated Isaac online in my earlier, more reactionary years on Twitter. I have wished to know him better because the mutual friends we have vouch unwaveringly about his personality and soul.

I hope you can find peace in the weeks ahead, Andy. You made a positive impact on...
