Robert Griffin III is taking heat on social media following a post about Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.
Griffin, who is hardly removed from the Angel Reese-fueled drama involving Ryan Clark, has found himself in another social media hailstorm following a curious reaction to the Indiana Pacers’ win on Saturday night.
The Pacers are headed to the NBA Finals on the back of a resounding victory over the New York Knicks, whom they took care of in six games.
Guard Tyrese Haliburton had an impressive fourth quarter and played a solid series overall, earning a strange nickname from the former NFL quarterback.
After the game, RGIII took to X, posting “The Haliban is headed to the NBA Finals.”

Fans were not rocking with the bizarre nickname, given the obvious connotation.
“The haliban? No wonder you got canned,” one wrote in the comments.

“No, @RGIII Absolutely not. Never use that again. You’re from a military family, and that is heinously disrespectful. You’re better than that,” another user advised.

Both of Robert Griffin’s parents served in the United States Army. As a matter of fact, he was born in Japan, where his father was stationed in 1990 and lived on several army bases as a child.
It doesn’t appear that the backlash has made him change his mind, though, as the tweet is still alive and well.
