The New York Jets have been at rock bottom for a while. But this time, one of their most well-known and beloved fans has decided that this year was the last straw.
Not only have the Jets clinched a 10th straight losing season, but their postseason drought has been extended to 15 years. This is the longest active NFL drought by a country mile, with the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers tied for the second-longest at eight seasons.
When your franchise struggles for an extended period, you must at least find ways to maintain healthy relationships with your loyal fans. But that has never been the case with New York Jets owner Woody Johnson.
As a result, one of the Jets’ most passionate fans will no longer attend home games after this season.
Longtime Jets fan Ray Hoffman, AKA “Captain Jet”, announced on social media that he’s canceling his season tickets for 2026. Hoffman said the team raised the prices of his single-seat season tickets to $2,600.

The New York Jets will have eight home games next season. So, $325 a ticket? Not worth it given the terrible on-field product.
The Jets waved the white flag at the trade deadline when they dealt All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen WIlliams to the Dallas Cowboys and superstar cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts.
While Aaron Glenn is unlikely to be fired after one year, the Jets will have to make some tough decisions regarding the roster. Per OvertheCap.com, New York has just over $98 million in projected cap space for 2026.
They can try to fill some of those voids in free agency, yes. But with two first-round picks in 2026, New York must spend those wisely. This is a deep draft class for quarterbacks, after all.
