In case you didn’t know, it’s a tough time to be a fan of the Tennessee Titans. The product on the field is completely unwatchable about 95% of the time, and then to top that off, you have local media people that are so desperate to get you to engage with them, that they start throwing stuff out about a rookie quarterback seven games into his career. Seven games. Seven games surrounded by a terrible offensive line and with zero difference makers around him.

Now, don’t take that for me saying that Cam Ward hasn’t been bad so far. He has. He is missing easy throws, and for some reason he has just dropped the football without being hit in each of the last two games. If those things don’t change, then yes, the Titans be back to needing a quarterback soon, but again, we are only seven games into his career. Let’s all give the guy a chance to learn from his mistakes and be better.

The Titans would be insane to move on from Ward after just one season. That what makes Easton Freeze’s take that the Titans would consider taking a quarterback at number one overall fo the second year in a row just absurd:

No, that discussion doesn’t have to exist. The only discussion that needs to exist in that building this offseason is how can we do everything to maximize what they have around Ward to give him the best chance to succeed. That starts with who they hire as the head coach, then moves to free agency, and finally the draft.

I’m not sure that Ward has what it takes to be a franchise quarterback, but to suggest that an organization that has been crushed by knee-jerk reactions should give up on Ward after just one season is crazy.
