Aaron Rodgers still hasn’t signed the dotted line, leaving the door open for speculation. Most fingers have pointed to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but as of this weekend, a new name has entered the rumor mill: the New Orleans Saints.
This isn’t just a wild guess. With Derek Carr announcing his retirement after a shoulder injury threatened to sideline him for the 2025 season, the Saints suddenly have a significant void at quarterback.
Carr’s decision caught many by surprise, including the team. Now, New Orleans is left with a QB room that’s a long shot from inspiring confidence- three young players with seven starts combined and zero wins between them.

Some fans saw the potential upside.

But not everyone is sold on the idea. Critics pointed to Rodgers’ age, injury history, and penchant for bringing distractions.

And then there are those who would rather let the team roll with its current quarterbacks and regroup in 2026. “Let one of the young guys on the roster play and if it doesn’t work, next year there’s better quarterbacks in the draft,” read one reply.

Still, the Saints could at least explore the option. They have a fan base that wants answers and a season that suddenly looks more uncertain. Whether Rodgers would entertain joining a team in transition remains unclear. All signs still suggest he’s leaning toward Pittsburgh, but in the NFL, nothing’s done until the ink dries.
For now, the Saints have entered the conversation, and that’s enough to keep things interesting.
