The Bills will be among the first NFL teams to take part in new joint venture between Nike and the league.
During the 2025 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills will be among the first teams taking part in a new joint venture between Nike and the NFL, dubbed Rivalries. The 2025 NFL Schedule Release will be revealed in full on May 14, while the games designated as Rivalries — which includes the Bills — will be announced at a later date.
Beginning in 2025, the NFL and Nike will roll out a new uniform/fan gear program designed to highlight marquee football town rivalries. The endeavor will run through the 2028 NFL season, featuring specially designed Nike uniforms and sideline/fan gear.
Per the NFL news release, “Rivalries will drive fan engagement by celebrating storied traditions and uniting communities with unique and elevated product designs.” Over the course of the next four seasons, Rivalries teams will participate in waves, with the AFC East and NFC West divisions first up to bat.
Rivalries appears to be a completely new uniform rather than a throwback variant. Per the team’s official website:
“Each participating team will wear a unique Rivalries uniform with designs rooted extensively in local community insights during a single home game against a division rival. The designs have been brought to life by pulling inspiration from the history of each market and the aspects of the community that only that team’s city embodies.
Following their reveal, these Rivalries uniforms will be included in their team’s uniform lineup for three years after introduction, in addition to existing alternate uniforms. Teams from the AFC South and NFC North will debut their Rivalries uniforms in 2026, followed by NFC East and AFC West teams in 2027, and teams from the AFC North and NFC South in 2028.”
Previously, Bills chief operating officer Pete Guelli mentioned that the coming season would focus on the team’s current uniform options, rather than exploring new alternates — such as a re-introduction of the famed Super Bowl era red helmet uniforms. It appears
That led fans to believe the coming season would be chock full of Buffalo’s brilliant current uniform and perhaps continued combinations of the red color-rush uniforms. Interestingly, since the introduction of the Bills’ color-rush variants, the as-current standing bison throwback uniform has not seen use.
In short, expect to see a new uniform that celebrates Bills Country and the local community — perhaps offering a take on something culturally/regionally or geographically Buffalo, NY and Western New York in general. The biggest questions at this point are when the Bills will wear these new alternate uniforms, and against which team(s)?
Depending on how far back your fandom goes, it’s easy to envision the Super Bowl era teams’ rivalry with the Miami Dolphins. Other may say the New England Patriots as a good home-game candidate, but...
