A familiar face will be kicking for the Jets in 2025.
The Jets entered training camp with a competition for the placekicker job between two young players with minimal experience. After an uneven start to training camp for the young guys the Jets are adding more experience, and it is a familiar face.
Nick Folk is rejoining the Jets.
Folk was the Jets’ placekicker from 2010 through 2016. During his time with the Jets, he hit a number of memorable kicks, including a game-winner in the 2010 AFC Wild Card Game in Indianapolis and a 50 yarder to beat the Cowboys the following year in Week 1.
Folk is old at 40 years of age. There hasn’t been any sign that age is making him less effective, though. He’s been one the best kickers in the NFL the last six years. During that span, he has made 91.3 percent of his field goal attempts. You just don’t see many kickers have that level of sustained success.
As always time will tell, but to me this seems like a slam dunk great move by the Jets. They went from total unknowns to one of the most reliable kickers in the league.
