The NFLPA has sent one of its top lawyers on paid administrative leave following disturbing alleged behavior.
According to a report from ESPN, Heather McPhee won’t be handling any matters for the association for the time being as she has been the focus of multiple complaints.
The report notes that McPhee, who has been the associate general counsel for the league since 2009, has been accused of failing to follow supervisory directives while bullying colleagues and disrupting the environment.
Matt Curtin, the head of NFL Players Inc., was among those who filed complaints.
“The NFL Players Association put one of its top lawyers on paid administrative leave Tuesday after multiple employees filed complaints with the union’s human resources department, five sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN on Thursday,” the network reports.
The development comes months after allegations from McPhee sparked a federal investigation into the financial affairs of the NFLPA and the Major League Baseball Players Association regarding $2 billion licensing company OneTeam Partners.
It’s also noted that McPhee was “an outspoken and frequent critic” of former executive director Lloyd Howell Jr., who stepped down recently following the results of an investigation.
Howell resigned in July after it was reported that he used union funds for multiple outings at strip clubs while also working as a consultant for a company that can purchase stakes in NFL teams.
He was also exposed by a leaked 61-page document showing the NFLPA agreed to hide findings of league collusion from the players.
