The NFLPA has taken a cheeky dig at MetLife Stadium and the NFL, by extension, amid preparations for the Club World Cup.

With the World Cup coming to the United States next Summer, soccer fans can enjoy some top-tier games this year as the biggest clubs in the world will compete for bragging rights as the best in the world, as well as a remarkable cash incentive, given the $1 billion prize pool.

The winner will receive $40 million, while every participant will be awarded funds for drawing games, winning games, making it to the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final.

MetLife Stadium is among 12 U.S. venues set to host the tournament and will be the location of the final. As a result, grass fields have been installed.

The artificial surface used there for NFL games has been criticized for years. Some top names, including Nick Bosa and Aaron Rodgers, have suffered serious injuries while playing on the MetLife turf.

It’s why the NFL Players Association has called the stadium out after natural grass was installed for soccer games, while football players’ complaints fall on deaf ears.

“Looks nice 🧐… #SaferFields,” they wrote in a post after a short clip of the preparations made it to social media.

15 NFL stadiums use artificial turf while the other 15 have natural grass. Some teams share stadiums, so 17 of them play on turf at home.

Club World Cup Replaces Traditional Competition

The Club World Cup will be the first of its kind and replaces the traditional annual Club World Cup, which featured seven teams.

This one will take place every four years and host 32 teams, including the likes of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madric, Benfica, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester City, and Champions League winners PSG.

Strangely, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Napoli, who all won their respective leagues this year, were not selected.
