NFL Wild Card Monday Prediction

NFL Wild Card Monday Prediction
Gang Green Nation Gang Green Nation

We have one NFL Playoff game tonight. Let’s break it down.

5. Houston Texans (12-5) at 4. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7); 8:15 pm Eastern; ABC/ESPN

Wild Card Weekend ends with a Monday night game between the Texans and the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

The pick for this game seems obvious. The Texans enter this game as the hottest team in the league, winners of 9 in a row. The Steelers are in the Playoffs mainly because somebody had to win the AFC North, well that and a missed last second field goal.

Houston has the conference’s top defense. It faces a limited Steelers offense.

The Texans are battle tested, having won a Playoff game in two straight seasons. So the bright lights shouldn’t overwhelm them.

The fact the outcome to this game seems so obvious on paper scares me. The NFL has a way of surprising us just when we think we have the league figured out. I can’t shake the feeling that we are going to get something completely unexpected like a game where Houston plays really sloppy ball or the Steelers find another gear.

In the end, I have to go with my head and take the Texans. I wouldn’t be surprised if this pick ended up being wrong, though. I seems too logical for the NFL.

My Pick: Houston Texans

Current Playoff Prediction Record: 3-2
