During the bye week, the Seattle Seahawks took the lead in the NFC West without even playing. To maintain this status, they need another primetime victory, this time on Sunday Night Football against the Washington Commanders on the road. A victory is crucial because the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers are expected to win their games against the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants, respectively.
The Seahawks are currently 3.5-point favorites according to Fanduel SportsBook. This suggests a tight matchup, and these odds may change depending on the status of QB Jayden Daniels. He sat out last Monday Night Football against the Chiefs. The expectation was that he would recover for the game against the Seahawks, but last Monday, reports emerged that the Commanders would be cautious about his return, indicating that his status remains uncertain.
The over/under is 45.5 points, suggesting, along with the odds, something like a 24-21 score for the Seattle Seahawks. The Commanders have allowed 24 or more points six times this season and scored 21 or more six times. The Seahawks have scored 24 or more points four times this season and have only given up 21 or more points once, in the loss to the Bucs.
Even with Marcus Mariota starting, the Commanders should keep the game even, as they’ve been much better at home (2-1 with a last-second field goal as the only loss) than on the road (1-4). Even in Monday’s loss, Dan Quinn’s defense did get two interceptions against the Chiefs, who had only two interceptions thrown the rest of the season.
It’s a tight, important game, and the Seahawks will have a chance to continue their strong performance on the road.
Go Hawks!
