NFL Week 5 opening odds: Seahawks are slight home favorites vs. Buccaneers
Field Gulls Field Gulls

We were all able to enjoy that 23-20 Seattle Seahawks victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football throughout this weekend and have a stress-free football Sunday. The Los Angeles Rams beat the previously undefeated Indianapolis Colts, but the Jacksonville Jaguars did us a solid by beating the San Francisco 49ers. Overall, it was a decent set of outcomes, creating a logjam at the top of the NFC West.

Up next is a historically significant game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lumen Field, and Seattle opens as a (-2.5) favorite according to Fanduel. Both Seattle and Tampa Bay were expansion teams in 1976, and this is the 50th Season game for the Seahawks where they will be honoring the Top 50 players in franchise history.

There will be plenty of Seahawks Legends in the house to see a matchup of 3-1 teams after the Bucs lost their first game of the season, falling at home to the Philadelphia Eagles 31-25. Tampa Bay had two separate 100-yard receivers, with both RB Bucky Irving and WR Emeka Egbuka eclipsing that mark. Philadelphia blocked a punt and returned it for a TD. The Bucs were 0-2 in the red zone and had two turnovers. Those miscues were too much for Baker Mayfield and company to overcome after their late-game heroics over the first three weeks of the season.

Hopefully the few extra days of rest will help the Seahawks get players back into the lineup such as Nick Emmanwori, who was set to be a huge part of Mike Macdonald’s defense. The atmosphere will be rocking, and energy will be high with all of the 50th Season festivities. As if that’s not enough, this will be a double throwback jersey game with both the Seahawks and Buccaneers wearing retro threads!

It will be time to party like it’s 1976!
