It’s NFL trade season and at 4-2 entering Week 7, the New England Patriots are expected to be buyers.

With the 2025 NFL trade deadline coming up on Nov. 4, numerous analysts and insiders are crafting ideas for the Patriots.

New England has already been connected to the likes of Breece Hall, DeAndre Hopkins, Derrick Henry and Jakobi Meyers.

MassLive’s Karen Guregian detailed “5 potential trade targets” for the Patriots on Tuesday and among them was Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku.

“Tight end is such an important position in Josh McDaniels offense. With Mike Vrabel having served as a consultant to the Browns last season, he’s pretty familiar with their roster. Njoku has been one of the NFL’s better tight ends in recent years,” Guregian wrote. “Between quarterback (Dillon Gabriel) and running back (Quinshon Judkins), the Browns appear to be going with a youth movement. Third-round draft pick Harold Fannin Jr. has impressed enough where the Browns might consider moving Njoku. He’s affordable, with the Browns restructuring his deal in 2023.”

The insider noted that as evidenced by their recent trade of starting quarterback Joe Flacco, the Browns have “positioned themselves to be sellers.”

New England currently has Austin Hooper and Hunter Henry getting the majority of the snaps at tight end, but Guregian said that if one of them were to suffer an injury, the team would be “in trouble.”

Hooper has already seen his name floated in trade ideas this fall and will be 31 years old in late October. Henry will turn 31 in December while Njoku, meanwhile, is only 29.

Njoku has spent his entire career in Cleveland after being selected with the 29th overall pick during the 2017 NFL Draft.

The University of Miami product was limited to 11 games last season after making his Pro Bowl in 2023.

Njoku has recorded 23 receptions for 223 yards and one touchdown on 36 targets across six games this season.
