Pittsburgh Steelers rival wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has been suspended for spitting on Jalen Ramsey that led to a fight on-field.
After Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey was suspended, speculation was confirmed by the 10-year veteran. Following Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Ramsey told reporters Ja’Marr Chase spat on him–leading to a fight on the field. Chase denied this, but the NFL has suspended him following a video review of the incident.

Chase, who was drafted by the Bengals in 2021, has had multiple high-intensity moments against the Steelers. Even so, none had ever led to an ejection until this past Sunday.
Early in the fourth quarter, Ramsey and Chase appeared to be involved in a minor scuffle–leading to offsetting penalties for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. During a timeout, the video showed Chase spit at Ramsey, prompting a retaliatory punch from the wide receiver.
“He spit on me, so it’s up. I don’t give a fuck about football after that — respectfully,” Ramsey told reporters after the game.
“I’m always gonna be all for trash-talking, shit-talking, stuff like that. I actually enjoy that part of the game. I think people know that. And that’s what we (were) doing. I mean, after the first one — the first little thing — the play before, he tried to, like, crack block me or whatever. I got up off that and then we got up talking shit or whatever and he snatched my mouthpiece off my facemask, and that’s when I pushed his facemask.”
Ramsey is likely to be fined for his part in the scuffle, but it is unclear whether he will be suspended as well. This isn’t totally surprising for the league to do this.
In week one, the NFL ejected and suspended Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before the first play of the game.
