Acme Packing Company
Fire up the oven for the turkey, get to mashing those potatoes, and prep the pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving Day is here, and that means a whole day of food, friends, family, and football.
As usual, the NFL has three courses of football to entertain us throughout the day, starting with the Green Bay Packers, who play on Thanksgiving for the third straight season. After hosting the Miami Dolphins in the night game a year ago, the Packers are back in Detroit in today’s early game, giving football fans a fantastic first dish.
After that big NFC North rivalry game, the afternoon contest should be an interesting one as well that promises some scoreboard fireworks. The Chiefs and Cowboys each boast top-ten offenses, though Kansas City has a high-performing defense while the Cowboys…do not. Still, it should be an interesting game that will have significant playoff implications for both of these teams.
Let’s call that the dessert course. The third and final game on today’s schedule is more like late-night leftovers — it’s still technically football, but it just doesn’t seem as exciting as everything that’s going on during the day. The Bengals and Ravens meet in the nightcap, but Cincinnati is way back in the division race and the game is generally not expected to be very competitive.
We’ll have a separate Packers-Lions game thread, but join us here throughout the day for the late games and any other holiday discussion that you’d like to have in the comments. Have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy all the football!
