Somebody at the top of the NFL Draft is going to take former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Is there a chance he might fall?

Sanders and Cam Ward are pretty much unanimously considered the top two quarterbacks in this year’s class.

However, many have Ward as the leader based on one thing he can do well, which is something Sanders seems to struggle with.

Many teams reportedly have a genuine concern with Shedeur Sanders.

Per Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline: “Teams I’ve spoken with are concerned Sanders showed no real progress in his game last season, unlike Ward, and that he will need a lot of coaching to rid some of the poor throwing fundamentals he displayed this past season.”

Teams are also concerned about his dad’s involvement, and Pauline believes that could also work in the Miami star’s favor.

“The Deion factor, which I wrote about from Shrine Bowl practices, is a concern for franchises,” Pauline wrote. “If somehow Ward is not selected with the first pick, either by the Titans or a team that trades to the top spot, the Cleveland Browns would jump at the chance to take the Hurricanes quarterback when they are called to the clock with the second selection.”

In his senior season with Colorado, Sanders threw 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions through 13 games.

He finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting, with his teammate Travis Hunter winning the award.

Cam Ward passed for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns against seven interceptions and finished fourth in Heisman Trophy balloting.

Shedeur Sanders Not Throwing at 2025 NFL Scouting Combine

NFL scouts looking to see Shedeur Sanders throw in person will have to wait, as the former Colorado quarterback will forgo participation in any of the passing drills at the NFL Scouting Combine.

While the Combine also offers on-field workouts for players to continue to make their case to teams, Sanders has reportedly told teams he won’t participate in on-field throwing drills at the Combine, instead focusing on his interviews with teams.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Sanders will hold off on throwing until his Pro Day in Boulder, Colorado.
