NFL Team ‘Doing Homework’ on Hiring Bill Belichick

It’s safe to say, Bill Belichick’s first season as the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels hasn’t gone according to plan. Some might even suggest his first season in college football could also be his last. Though, with just a 4-6 record, who would hire a 73-year-old head coach to run their program?

It turns out, the NFL may come calling for the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach. Though, exactly who is still unclear.

However, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, there is at least one team that has begun doing its due diligence on hiring Belichick as their head coach.

The only two current NFL head coaching vacancies are with the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans. We’ve seen the Titans hire someone away from the New England Patriots’ regime before, resulting in the hiring of Mike Vrabel. Could Tennessee be pondering another reset led by Belichick?

Or are the Giants potentially debating a reunion with the coach who once helped them win two Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator? Of course, it’s also possible that another team that has yet to fire its current head coach is debating hiring the future Hall of Famer too.

Belichick remains just 26 wins behind tying Don Shula for the most wins by a head coach in NFL history. We’d bet that he has a strong interest in chasing that incredible lifetime achievement to add to what’s already been a legendary career.
