NFL Stats: Worst Fantasy Matchups for Top QBs in Week 11
Sportsnaut Sportsnaut

Looking at the slate of NFL games today, Week 11 offers some outstanding opportunities for high-scoring games. It could be a very great Sunday for fantasy football managers, but there are a few top quarterbacks who have matchups that might require expectations to be tempered.

Let’s dive into our list of five quarterbacks wiht the worst fantasy matchups this week, based on NFL stats entering Week 11.

  1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs offense has been excellent in recent weeks, with Rashee Rice’s return helping Patrick Mahomes return to putting up MVP-caliber production. However, the ceiling for Mahomes from a fantasy football perspective could be diminished considerably on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. In his lone start versus Denver last season, Mahomes finished with just 1 passing touchdown on 42 attempts. Fast forward to Sunday and he now takes on a defense that has allowed the lowest passing touchdown rate (2.5 percent) in the NFL and the sixth-fewest passing yards per game (179.5). The Broncos offense also isn’t putting up a ton of points right now, which imapcts the game script. Mahomes might win, but this projects to be a low-scoring game with neither quarterback putting up great numbers.

  1. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens vs Cleveland Browns

In his first meeting against the Cleveland Browns this season, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson threw 4 passing touchdowns with 225 yards through the air and 26 on the ground. It’s worth keeping in mind, though, that two of those touchdown passes came on drives that covered 29 total yards, and his fourth touchdown pass came on a 36-yard drive when it was already 34-10. All of that is to say, a lot had to go wrong for the Browns to give up 41 points. Since then, opponents are averaging just 173 passing yards per game versus Cleveland in seven contests. Jackson is still a must-start, but fantasy managers should be prepared for the possibility of a very moderate performance.

  1. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions vs Philadelphia Eagles

With Dan Campbell seemingly taking over play-calling, there’s reason to have more confidence in this Detroit Lions offense long-term. However, it could be a tough go for Jared Goff on Sunday Night Football. Entering Week 11, the Philadelphia Eagles have allowed the third-lowest completion rate (58.9 percent) and the second-lowest passing touchdown rate (2.6 percent) this season, with opponents averaging just 6.5 yards per attempt and 209.3 passing yards per game. Detroit will have more success running the football on Philadelphia, so fantasy managers might want to consider alternatives to Goff.
