Jane Slater is one of the top Cowboys reporters. The 45-year-old NFL Network reporter has been in the news over a shocking report regarding her life.
A post from “Star Nation” had gone viral on Facebook after being posted on Saturday. The false report said that Slater had died in a “tragic domestic violence incident.” An X user shared a screenshot of the false report and tagged Slater in it.
“@SlaterNFL did you pass away??” the user wrote alongside the obituary. The post included a black-and-white photo of Jane Slater. The text on it read, “Breaking News,” and included an obituary-style lifespan of “1980-2025.”
Responding to the user’s inquiry, Slater wrote, “I don’t think so? But does this mean there is [a] glitch in the matrix? I’m gonna wrap myself in bubble wrap until NYE.”

Jane Slater is very much alive. Her well-being was in question due to the incorrect posting of her demise.
It turns out that she was confused with Christina Chambers. The former WBRC 6 sports reporter and her husband were discovered dead at their home last week. The couple’s 3-year-old son was also at the house, but he was unharmed. A family member called the police, according to WBRC.
The report says that Christina Chambers and her husband were found with gunshot wounds. Cops suspect the two died in “a murder/suicide.” Chambers was a massive loss for the community. She was even honored with the Alabama Scholastic Press Association Advisor of the Year award in 2024. She worked at WBRC full-time from 2015 to 2021.
In response to being told the news, Jane Slater reacted on X. She said: “Wow! That’s actually so awful. My heart is so heavy for her child.”
Our prayers go out to the Chambers family.
