One of the biggest questions in the NFL world right now is what the future holds for John Harbaugh, the former Baltimore Ravens head coach who was fired after their recent loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which eliminated them from playoff contention. While things may have stalled out in Baltimore, Harbaugh is still sure to have plenty of suitors on the market this year, drawing interest from several teams around the league.
Recently, Connor Hughes of SNY reported that Harbaugh’s decision will come down to either the Atlanta Falcons or the New York Giants, “…with the loser of those sweepstakes landing Kevin Stefanski,” per Giants Videos on X, formerly Twitter.
Hughes also reported that “The Miami Dolphins have Harbaugh interest, too, although they already made their general manager decision (Jon-Eric Sullivan). There could be additional vacancies opening after Wild Card Weekend.”
Overall, it’s easy to see why both the Falcons and the Giants would be appealing to someone in Harbaugh’s position.
The Falcons are stockpiled with offensive talent, including young stars like Bijan Robinson and Michael Penix Jr., and also have the benefit of playing in the lowly NFC South, meaning a potential auto-bid into the playoffs is never too far away.
Meanwhile, the Giants have the obvious allure of playing in (not really) New York City, and a young quarterback in Jaxson Dart who showed some potential during his rookie season. Atlanta, meanwhile, has some major questions at quarterback moving forward, with Michael Penix Jr. having suffered an ACL injury to end what had been an underwhelming first full year as the team’s starter.
Overall, it seems that a Harbaugh decision could be coming sooner rather than later, with Stefanski soon to follow. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen who the Ravens will select as the first new head coach in 18 years.
