The New York Giants could be a dangerous team in the NFC this fall. New York has not stopped adding talent this offseason, reuniting with Odell Beckham Jr. earlier this week. But could one Giants player be traded at some point this season?
ESPN’s Dan Graziano theorized about some potential trades in his latest article. Giants fans won’t be shocked to hear that Kayvon Thibodeaux’s name came up in the discussion.
He argued that Thibodeaux could be a strong trade piece close to the NFL’s trade deadline in November. Especially if Thibodeaux has a strong start to the 2026 season.
“Thibodeaux is making $14.751 million this year in the fifth-year option season of his rookie contract. Teams aren’t too keen on the idea of that kind of money for a player whose playing time and production have tailed off since his big 2023 season (11.5 sacks),” Graziano wrote. “But if Thibodeaux starts strong and the Giants either aren’t contending or believe they should trade from a strength to fortify a weakness, other teams could take a look at the 25-year-old once there isn’t so much money left on his deal.”
Thibodeaux’s name has popped up in trade rumors ever since the Giants drafted Arvell Reese during the 2026 NFL Draft. He was almost traded during the draft, but the Saints did not want to pay a second-round pick for him.
Graziano suggested the Patriots as an obvious potential landing spot for Thibodeaux.
“I know New England is brought up every time we talk about teams that could be looking for edge rush help, but it does still feel like that’s what it needs,” Graziano concluded. “And you know the Giants aren’t trading him to the Cowboys!”
It will be interesting to see if Thibodeaux ends up being traded over the next few months.
