With a healthy Joe Burrow, and after some crucial additions on defense, the Cincinnati Bengals are attempting to go on a deep playoff run in 2026. However, the franchise still isn’t done building out their upcoming roster.
One position to the Bengals could look at add at is running back. Chase Brown is locked in as the starter, but Cincinnati still needs some extra talent alongside him. If the Bengals decide to go the trade route to acquire a running back, James Connor of the Arizona Cardinals or Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints come to mind for ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
“But it feels like one of the Cardinals’ six RBs has to go, and a team looking for a reliable veteran back could make a move for Conner if he’s having a hard time getting carries,” Graziano wrote. “The Bengals and Giants jump to mind; they were looking for running back help this offseason but didn’t bring in much.”
“It’s hard to see a team offering too much for Kamara at this point in his career,” he continued. “But if he lands in the right kind of backfield and the right kind of role, he could have a chance to go out with a bang. Maybe a place such as Cincinnati or Green Bay has a way to use him to help the offense.”
The Cardinals selected Jeremiyah Love at No. 3 in the 2026 NFL Draft and signed Tyler Allgeier in free agency. While he is a two-time Pro Bowler, and he did accept a pay cut, there may not be room in Arizona’s offense.
The Saints signed Travis Etienne to a $52 million contract in free agency. He is now poised to lead their rushing attack. Still, Kamara showed up to OTAs and has been a franchise legend, earning five Pro Bowl nominations. But with Etienne in mind, his time in New Orleans could come to a close.
Brown should still be expected to lead the Bengals running backs in terms of touchdowns. Conner or Kamara would at least give Cincinnati a bit more thump and experience at the position.
