Mary Kay Cabot received the Bill Nunn Memorial Award on Friday.

It’s probably about time to give her another…

Cabot, who is a sportswriter for the Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com who has covered the NFL since 1988, received the award for “long and distinguished contribution to pro football through coverage.” Cabot’s speech included stories about former Cleveland Browns head coach Bill Belichick calling and yelling at her whenever he didn’t like something she’d written.

Cabot’s response?

“I totally understand why Bill gave me such a hard time,” Cabot said Friday, as transcribed by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I was 28 at the time and he just couldn’t relate to a woman that old.”

Michael Kelso is the only person who can do that statement justice, so just click on thay link.

Cabot’s joke was an obvious shot at Belichick’s extremely public relationship with Jordon Hudson — who is 24.

It’s a tough job eating… you know, and liking it. Cabot did that and then some, and finally got to issue something along the lines of revenge on Friday — and she did it with some creativity.

Well done, Mary Kay.
