Eli currently has Pro Bowl bragging rights over his older brother, but that could be short-lived.
On Sunday, the NFC defeated the AFC in the Pro Bowl flag football game, giving the conference the title for the third year in a row. The NFC has now won the Pro Bowl Games in each of the three years of their current iteration, led in part by celebrity coach Eli Manning, whose brother Peyton manned the the AFC sideline.
This was just the first of the events that will find these two Manning brothers facing off during the run-up to Super Bowl LIX. During the game, the two will participate in the third edition of FanDuel’s Kick of Destiny, an event that saw Rob Gronkowski fail to connect on a field goal in either of its first two iterations.
This year, it’s a kick-off between Eli and Peyton in a new format. Last week, SB Nation surveyed NFL fans to see which brother they believe will take this year’s title, and by about a 3:2 margin, fans are leaning towards Eli:
Over their playing careers, neither retired quarterback was known for being an especially athletic player. Looking at rushing statistics to come up with a proxy for overall athleticism, the two were almost identical in terms of production. Eli averaged 23 carries for 41 yards per 17 games played, while Payton’s average was 28 carries for 43 yards.
Got a strong feeling about which Manning will win? Here are the details on how to get involved in this year’s Kick of Destiny.
