The NFL has published the league statistics on the offense and defense sides of the ball for the 2025 preseason, as well as the team-by-team preseason stats.

Looking first at the league statistics, which the NFL breaks down based on the AFC and NFC conferences, the Chicago Bears offense totaled 82 first downs, more than any other team in the NFC and tied for first with the Kansas City Chiefs league-wide. The Bears gained 1247 yards over the course of the preseason, with the NY Giants the only team to outgain the Bears in the NFC (1305 yards). Denver was the only team in the AFC to outgain the Bears in their preseason games. Chicago’s completion percentage of 67.7% was in the upper third of both leagues, and their 12 touchdowns scored were beaten only by the NY Giants, which scored 13 touchdowns. The reported rankings placed Chicago’s offense at third in total offense (third in pass, ninth in rush). The Bears were 22-44 (50%) on third down, and 5-10 (50%) on fourth down. The Bears outpossessed their opponents – their average possession per 60 minutes was 36.19 minutes compared to their opponents’ average of 23.41 minutes.

On defense, the Bears ranked seventh in the league in total defense (9th against the rush, 12th against the pass), and the Bears only allowed 51 points in their three preseason games. To contrast, the Washington Commanders gave up a whopping 109 points in their three games. Opponents gained 809 yards against Dennis Allen’s preseason defense, an average of 269.7 yards per game. The Bears also allowed one of the lowest completion percentages against in the preseason – teams completed 47.8% of their passes against the Bears. Of particular interest was the nine sacks the Bears tallied, which saw the Bears tied for 2nd overall with four other teams (two teams earned 10 sacks in the preseason to claim first place).

Turning now to the individual performances on the Chicago Bears, Brittan Brown and the now cut Ian Wheeler topped the rushing yard totals, each rushing for 100 yards apiece. Wheeler posted his number with 26 carries while Brown had 29 carries in the Bears’ preseason games. While Kyle Monangai only had five attempts, of the candidates for rushing carries in the regular season, his yards-per-carry was the best at 5.0 yards per rush. Tyler Scott did most of his work in the fourth quarter of the preseason games, as did Jahdae Walker, but they both topped the Bears in receiving yards with 99 and 98 yards respectively, and both had substantial yards per catch numbers (14.1 and 12.3). Walker led the Bears in the preseason with 2 receiving touchdown catches. Bagent led the team in completions (46) and yards (511) on 69 attempts with a 66.7% completion percentage and 7.41 yards per attempt. But Caleb, on just over a third as many attempts, threw for 220 yards with 8.8 yards per attempt. He also notched Bagent in completion percentage (68%).
