Former NFL defensive end Bryan Braman is battling the most harrowing ordeal of his life as he’s been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Branam, 38, was a special teams standout in Philadelphia and won a Super Bowl with the Eagles, having entered the league as an undrafted free agent and then going on to establish himself as a defensive asset.

His diagnosis has led to an outpouring of support from fans, former teammates, and the NFL community.

A GoFundMe page has been published in a bid to raise money for the former DE during what must be a period of immense struggle.

Former NFL linebacker and FS1 analyst Emmanuel Acho, who, like Braman, had two stints in Philly, shared a link to the page and urged fans to contribute.

“I’m sad it’s taken me so long to see this,” he wrote in a tweet. “@Eagles fans, we need you to be teammates right now. My teammate & SB Champ, Bryan Braman is battling an extremely rare cancer.

“He laid his body on the line for Philly, & now he needs Philly to survive.”

Bryan Braman Has Fallen On Hard Times Since Leaving Football

Bryan Braman was known for being fearless in defense and is likely treating his diagnosis with the same attitude. According to reports, he underwent CAR-T cell therapy in Seattle, employing a new form of treatment that genetically reprograms white blood cells to fight cancer, which initially seemed to work.

Unfortunately, the cancer returned and started spreading even faster, compromising his immune system to the point where chemotherapy options have been limited.

The GoFundMe campaign, branded “Donate to Bryan Braman’s Healing Journey,” has been set up to cover his housing and caregiver costs during a 12-week treatment program.

Braman, who does not have a regular place of abode, has been paying for lodging and care out of his pocket and was even forced to sell his vehicle to stay at a motel.

On a brighter note, the GoFundMe has surpassed its goal of $25,000. It was at $40,615 at the time of writing, with the likes of J.J. Watt, Rasul Douglas, and Brent Celek, making notable contributions.
