NFL opening night live chat: Cowboys at Eagles
Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

Let me be the very first person in the world to say.

FOOTBALL IS BACK!

Okay, sure, college football started a couple of weeks ago, and before that we had training camp. And before that there was the NFL Draft, and the UFL, and free agency.

Okay, football never really left, but the NFL regular season did, and on Thursday night it’s officially BACK!

The 2025 NFL season opens up with what could end up being a pretty critical NFC matchup. The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys in a divisional showdown.

The Eagles remain the conference’s favorite after another strong offseason from Howie Roseman and company. The Cowboys remain… dysfunctional. After an offseason of contract bickering came to a head last week, Dallas sent superstar Micah Parsons to the Packers via a trade (thanks, Jerry), and got a pair of first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in return. That has certainly left some Cowboys fans giving up on the season before it even starts, but that would be a mistake. It’s a huge blow to the defense, but the team remains talented on both sides of the ball. A win on opening night would send a message to the cynics.

Of course… no one is really expecting that. According to FanDuel, the Eagles are 8.5-point favorites on Thursday night, and the entire Pride of Detroit staff is taking Philly, as well.

But even if it’s a blowout, it’s NFL football, and I’m not going to miss a second of it. So if you want to hang out with your POD family, just scroll down to the comment section and chat during Thursday Night Football!
