NFL odds Week 5: Dolphins receive slight nod over Panthers despite Tyreek Hill injury

The Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets on Monday night to pick up their first win of the season, but it came with a price. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill is out for the season for Miami after he sustained a dislocated knee with several ligament tears in the second half of the AFC East rivalry match. The injury caused the Dolphins’ Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers to come off the oddsmakers boards, with more information needed about the severity of the injury before odds could be re-opened.

Tuesday, Hill’s status was clear, with the wide out headed into surgery and out for at least the remainder of the year. The oddsmakers brought the Dolphins-Panthers game back onto the board, with Miami picking up a slight nod as road favorites.

According to the oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook, Miami is favored by 1.5 points. Both Miami and Carolina enter the game at 1-3 on the season, though on paper the Dolphins should be the better team. The loss of Hill will impact the club, however, as an offense built to get him the ball adjusts to gameplans without him.

Miami is -116 on the moneyline for a straight-up win, while the Panthers are -102. The point total is set at 44.5.

The Dolphins and Panthers kickoff at 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
