NFL National Anthem Singer Karina Pasian Responds To Critics Of Her ‘Inappropriate’ Outfit

Karina Pasian, who sang the United States national anthem at the NFL game in Madrid, Spain, has responded to critics of her supposed “inappropriate” outfit. Basically, she’s sorry, not sorry.

In case you missed it, apparently, the black mini dress, stockings, and garters that Karina Pasian wore were just too much for some people. Or too little, as the case may be.

Rather than focus on the fact that it was the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Madrid, numerous fans complained about Pasian’s wardrobe choice. Several media outlets even ran stories about her “inappropriate” outfit after the game.

At first, Karina Pasian just thanked everyone for giving her the opportunity, writing on Instagram, “Thank you @nfl for an amazing event!!!!! Floored with all the love I’ve been receiving. I’m so grateful!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. It’s such an honor to represent my country in the place I now call home.”

Karina Pasian responded to the critics of her national anthem outfit

“I felt super honored,” she said on Wednesday in an interview with TMZ. “I enjoyed it so much. It was, I just, I couldn’t think, you know, it was, it was surreal. I just wanted to honor the States. I wanted to do an amazing job as I could, and I just felt really proud.”

When asked how she felt about people criticizing her outfit, Pasian replied, “I honestly was not expecting, I had no expectations with anything. I felt super proud and I felt great in what I chose to wear. I worked with two stylists of mine named David and Adrianne, and they’re amazing. They brought my vision to life, and, yeah, it was not my intention to offend anyone. I’m really sorry if anyone felt offended by it. My intention was to have a good time.

“Like, my look is also like super cabaret, super burlesque,” she continued. “Like that’s the aesthetic I love. I really admire that aesthetic and so yeah, I just wanted to like, elevate the look I already have to match the occasion and do my best, and it was really an honor. I have no intentions again of offending anyone. I enjoyed it. I felt super proud and happy. I loved my outfit.”

Karina Pasian then pointed out that the NFL approved her outfit a few days before her performance. She also said she is trying to focus on the many positive comments she received, both for her singing as well as her outfit.

“It’s about focusing on my journey and not allowing negativity and things to distract me,” she said.
