The Patriots need upgrades all over their team.
The New England Patriots need upgrades all over their roster, so picking a player who can help at two position seems like a reasonable approach. That player is Travis Hunter, a wide receiver cornerback hybrid who the Patriots pick fourth overall in J.P. Acosta’s latest mock draft over at SB Nation.
4. New England Patriots: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, New England Patriots
Can you imagine a secondary of Christian Gonzalez and Hunter? Yeah man sign me up. Hunter’s rare ball skills and instincts make him too good to pass up on here for New England, with the potential to be an instant-impact DB. Oh, and he can play snaps at receiver too!
Hunter projects primarily as a cornerback at the next level, with his receiving talent an add-on. Still, he would be a tremendous pickup: not only is he among the best cornerback prospects coming out of college in the last decade, he also can be a big-play threat as a rotational package receiver.
The Patriots already have a player like that on their roster in Marcus Jones. Hunter would be a supercharged version of that.
