As the NFL world grapples with DK Metcalf’s two-game suspension for an altercation with a Detroit Lions fan in Week 16, with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver indeed out for the rest of the regular season after Jordy Nelson denied his appeal, fans have wondered what would happen to the other side of this altercation and if any additional punishment would be dealt out.
Well, according to NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, that his been decided too, and both the NFL and the Lions will “not take action” in the case.
Playing in his first season with the Steelers after being drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ole Miss, Metcalf’s 2025 season has been slightly underwhelming versus expectations, averaging the lowest yards per game of his career since his rookie season. Metcalf’s regular season will finish out with a career-low 59 receptions for 850 yards and six touchdowns, and will mark the first time in his NFL career where he didn’t have 100 targets, falling just one short over 15 games.
Fortunately, the Steelers have already locked up Mike Tomlin’s 19th winning season and are the odds-on favorites to win the AFC North, so there’s a very good chance he’ll be back on the first of January alongside Aaron Rodgers and company.
