The New England Patriots’ draft fate is tied to the teams in the top three, and an NFL insider dropped major intel on one of those clubs.
Head coach Mike Vrabel was willing to keep a patient approach at the start of the NFL Scouting Combine. The Tennessee Titans kept their plans with the No. 1 pick close to the chest, but the Cleveland Browns are a mystery team. They affirmed they had no plans on trading star pass rusher Myles Garrett, but they also need a quarterback. That need led ESPN’s Adam Schefter to reveal a bold prediction.
“The thing I feel the most comfortable and confident in this upcoming draft is the that Cleveland Browns at No. 2 will wind up taking a quarterback because they have to, because logic dictates that, because common sense dictates that,” Schefter said on his podcast Tuesday.
New England should be rooting for at least one quarterback to be selected with the top three picks. Two quarterbacks in the top three would be the dream result. But if one signal-caller was drafted in the top three, it increases the Patriots’ odds of landing either Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter.
It’s still very early in the process, and Schefter’s sentiments could change after the NFL Scouting Combine, but quarterback buzz only serves to benefit the Patriots.
