NFL Insider Urges Minnesota Vikings to Trade for Pro Bowl QB

Through six games, it’s fair to say the Minnesota Vikings have a quarterback problem. J.J. McCarthy hasn’t been able to stay healthy. Carson Wentz has delivered better results, at times. Yet, there have also been plenty of struggles, like his pair of two-interception performances.

The Vikings are back to having a top-ten defense. Yet, it’s clear that the offense has enough talent to thrive, provided they get consistently decent QB play.

Wentz and McCarthy haven’t been the solution thus far. So, perhaps it’s time for the Vikings to make other plans.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, maybe it’s time for the Vikings to consider reuniting with Kirk Cousins. If the Vikings do have any interest in their former four-time Pro Bowl QB, they’ll need to act relatively quickly, as the NFL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, on the Tuesday following Week 9.

It’s worth noting that Cousins has a full no-trade clause. A trip back to Minnesota may be one of the only destinations Cousins would accept a deal to in the middle of the season. Plus, it’s not like he has to learn a new offense; he’s already started in coach Kevin O’Connell’s system.

Cousins has been forced to spend the season as the primary backup to Michael Penix, and odds are the Falcons won’t pull their 2024 first-round pick from the lineup any time soon. Thus, a chance to play for the Vikings again could be exactly what Cousins has been waiting for.
