The future between the Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafforrd is one of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason. Stafford, 37 years old, has been with the Los Angeles Rams since 2021, when he also lead the team to a Super Bowl title.

Earlier this month, Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly Stafford said on her podcast that implied on her podcast that she believes the Rams would trade her husband.

Now, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk has described the Rams situation as a “mess” with a “weird vibe” that could lead to a handful of QB-needy teams exploring a trade for the future Hall of Fame signal caller.

“Although it’s not as dire as the Deshaun Watson debacle in Cleveland, the Rams have a mess. They could kick the cap can by extending his contract, but he’s 37. At what point will the Rams pivot to someone more than a decade younger than Stafford?”

“For now, it’s just a weird vibe. And with several teams looking for quarterbacks — Jets, Steelers, Browns, Titans, Raiders, Giants, Saints (maybe) — the Rams likely remain open for business.” [via ProFootballTalk]

Last season, Stafford completed 65.8% of his passes for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns and 8 interceptions en route to leading the Los Angeles Rams to an NFC West division title.

Stafford was drafted out of the University of Georgia by the Detroit Lions with the first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. In 2011, Stafford became the first QB in NFL history for pass for more than 5,000 yards, also leading the team to their first playoff berth since 1999.
